Orphan sponsorship is not just about providing food and shelter. Our orphan programme provides education to help orphaned children develop the skills they need to make positive changes in their lives, and break free from poverty.
ILM UK works to relieve poverty around the world and to provide orphaned or destitute children with an education that will secures their future. We believe that education is vital to long-term poverty relief and need your support to help these children through long term sponsorship.
We provide education to orphaned and poor children across Pakistan, India, Ghana, Afghanistan, Somalia, Niger and Uganda. With your support we can expand our programme to other countries and make a real difference to the lives of the youngest and most vulnerable members of society. Ramadan is a time for reflection and generosity – a time to consider people less fortunate than ourselves, and our obligations to them. We need your help to support another 200 Orphans Appeal through long-term sponsorship.

The Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] said: “Charity is prescribed for each descendant of Adam every day the sun rises.” He was then asked: “From what do we give charity every day?” The Prophet answered: “The doors of goodness are many; enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf, leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of one’s legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the feeble with the strength of one’s arms, all of these are charity prescribed for you.” He also said: “Your smile for your brother is charity.”

How do we look after our orphans?
Children have many different needs – love, stability and security are paramount. Education gives them a future full with opportunities ahead and a staple diet does wonders for health and well being. ILM UK addresses these challenges and provides these children with holistic care at their most vulnerable time.
We pledge with your help to ensure a child’s security with a family, make sure they receive a high standard of education, we monitoring their welfare progression and we provide access to medical care should any child fall ill.
Education
Every orphan child is provided with an education, including books and uniform, free of charge. Children who attend school benefit from high quality teaching and classroom facilities as a result of a tailor-made curriculum. Wherever possible, the children are given a nutritious school meal, which helps them to maintain concentration and get the best out of their school day.
Welfare
Orphan children typically live with their mother (if she is still alive) or a close relative as that provides the most secure and nurturing environment. ILM UK orphan workers are in regular contact with the guardian to ensure all of their needs and concerns are addressed.
Health
To ensure optimal health and wellbeing, the orphan children receive routine vaccinations that protect them from serious illness. The children are also assigned a welfare nurse who monitors progress by measuring their height, weight and dental care. This helps ensure children are able to focus in class, stay on top of their studies and reduces absences from school due to sickness.
Feedback
Once you sponsor an orphan child, we will send you an information pack containing the details of the child you are supporting. We also provide an annual update of how your sponsored orphan is getting along, which includes a school report on the child’s subjects and exam results, some information about their interests and aspirations, and notification of any other changes.
With the help of generous contributions from donors like you, we can build new adoption orphanages and support existing ones. Our funding does not stem from government grants.

A man once said to the Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]: “I have plenty of property, a large family, a great deal of money, and I am a gracious host to my guests. Tell me how to conduct my life and how to spend (my money).” The Prophet replied: “Give (regular charity) out of your property, for truly it is a purifier, and be kind to your relatives and acknowledge the rights of the poor, neighbours and (those in need who seek your help).”
